The Port of Lavrio with geographical coordinates φ: 37ο 42΄ 44″ Β / λ: 24ο 3΄ 25″ Α (latitude and longitude respectively), is located at the south-eastern tip of Attica, in the area of the city of Lavrio and very close at Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport.
The entrance of the port is 206 m wide and 20 m deep, while the catchment has a diameter of 350 m and a depth of 12 m.
The quays of the north-eastern part of the port host coastal shipping, with 9 stern seats / ramps, while two modern finger piers offer the possibility of side-stern mooring for four ships.
The 350 m long northeast leeward pier is suitable for mooring at least two ships at the same time. In the north-eastern sector, cruise ships are also served, at the disposal of which there is a Passenger Station with an area of 2,700 sq.m. where there is the infrastructure of the necessary controls (passport, police, customs) dictated by the adaptation to the ISPS Code and the Schengen agreement.
Near the Passenger Station there is a modern automated car park, car rental area, ticket offices and passenger and guest service.
In the Port of Lavrio there is also an independent Fishing Shelter and a yacht marina with a capacity of 200 seats.
The Recreation Boats Sector is served companies and individuals specialised in such area, to which the relevant offices are available.
Recreational boats can use water and electricity supplies, while there is also an area at the south-eastern end of the port for boating in winter.
The commercial activities of the port are divided into two sectors.
In the northern part there is a Customs Warehouse and international Ro-Ro ships approach, while in the southern part of the port all kinds of ships approach, transporting goods and bulk cargo.
The 190m long southeast windward pier and the 680m long southern quays are at the disposal of the merchant ships, making it possible to load and unload at least three ships simultaneously.
In the southern part of the port, there are also large areas, guarded and illuminated, which are used to store cargo of all kinds.
For the service of international cruise ships of type Ro-Ro and trucks, the Lavrio Port Organisation cooperates with specialised companies, which have all the necessary modern equipment for the loading and unloading of ships. This cooperation ensures the shipowners that all kinds of loading and unloading machines will be of the latest technology, complete and will have all the necessary certifications for any kind of work.
There are also two scales in the port and there is a Navigation Service.
The association of cargo-unloaders, tugs, cable ties, etc operates at the port, with which the Lavrio Port Organisation has excellent cooperation to ensure the best possible service of ships.
Private owners of boats, which serve the ships passing through the anchorage of Lavrio, are also based in the Commercial sector of the port.
Finally, in the Land Zone of the Port there are restaurants, cafés and other shops to serve the users, visitors and passengers of the port.
The company with the name “Lavrio Port Authority SA” was established in 2001, based on Law 2932/2001 “Conversion of Port Funds into Societes Anonymes”
