The port of Lavrio is ideal for welcoming and servicing coastal shipping. The geographical location ensures the shortest route between Attica and Cyclades.

At present, ships of five ferry companies are active in the port, connecting Lavrio with Kea, Kythnos, Agios Efstratios, Psara, Lemnos, Andros, Tinos, Syros and Kavala. Via Syros, the travel possibilities are expanded both in a large number of Cycladic islands, as well as providing road access to many cities of Northern Greece. In the port of Lavrio, coastal shipping is served by newly built quays with nine ramps and two modern finger piers, so that all types of ships can be served. In the Coastal Shipping sector of the port ships that perform their annual immobility and seek safe winter shelter can also be served, especially during severe weather conditions, which make neighbouring ports less safe.
