The facilities of the port of Lavrio serve the handling and storage of conventional cargo, such as bulk dry cargo, general cargo, container and Ro-Ro ships.
For the handling of cargo there are possibilities for loading and unloading, transhipment, storage in specific areas, stowage and transport within the terminal, depending on the categories and needs of cargo.
The mechanical equipment used for the services provided in the commercial sector of the port of Lavrio, is provided by private companies with which the Lavrio Port Authority SA cooperates.
Through these collaborations, electronic and self-propelled cranes, forklifts, tractors and in general all kinds of mechanical equipment are available to the interested parties. For the service of Ro-Ro ships of international lines, the port has a temporary storage area for cargo for customs control and presently the ships that operate routes between Lavrio, Cyprus and Israel are being served.
For the receiving cargo in the commercial sector of the port of Lavrio, security is provided and if the ships are subject το customs control, the ISPS regulations or the SEGEN agreement apply.
The Lavrio Port Workers’ Association is located in the commercial sector of the port of Lavrio, with which the Lavrio Port Authority SA maintains excellent cooperation, as well as private companies of tugs and lanyards, satisfying both the ships entering the port and the passing ships that use the port berth outside the port.
The company with the name “Lavrio Port Authority SA” was established in 2001, based on Law 2932/2001 “Conversion of Port Funds into Societes Anonymes”
