Fishing is one of the oldest professions in the city of Lavrio and is practised to this day by a large number of inhabitants.

A modern fishing shelter has been operating in the port since 2008, in which 31 professional coastal fishing boats with lengths of 7-15 meters, 4 purse seiners with lengths of 18-19 meters, 2 auxiliary purse seine vessels are moored, while several recreational fishing vessels are also accommodated

Most of them are traditional wooden “Trehantiria” and many of them have been built in the boatyard which is located and operates within the land area of ​​the port.

The fishing shelter offers complete safety for moored boats from the weather. Electricity and water supplies, as well as liquid and solid waste dumps are available for use by the fishing boats.
